October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month
Cybersecurity Awareness Month 鈥� observed every October 鈥� was developed with the purpose of raising awareness about the importance of cybersecurity and ensure that all individuals and organizations have the information and tools they need to be safer and more secure. This year, our campus theme is: Building Cyberstrong Spartans. Cybersecurity can seem overwhelming, but remember, there are many ways to keep your data and online presence protected. Whether on the job, at home or at school, you can make a huge difference 鈥� now and in the future. Throughout the month of October, 91传媒厂 IT, in collaboration with the 91传媒厂 Big Data and Cybersecurity Center, will host events that include guest speakers and contests with swags and prizes. Please read all about the events below!
Events
91传媒厂 Media Contest
Final Submission Date: October 25th
Winner Announcement Date: November 2nd
Details: Like in previous years, we have a contest! However, instead of just posters, we're expanding it to include digital media. As part of this month鈥檚 theme, we want to see content highlighting how the Spartan community can keep their technology safe. This includes topics such as:
- Using 2FA when creating an account.
- Updating devices regularly.
- Using a password manager.
- Creating secure passwords.
Please submit photos, movies, and audio to be included. The prizes are as follows, and we will notify everyone about the winners via the emails provided by contestants. We look forward to seeing your submission!
- First Place: $75 Amazon Gift Card
- Second Place: $50 Amazon Gift Card
- Third Place: $25 Amazon Gift Card
FBI Presentation: Staying Safe Online
Date: Oct 20th, 12 - 2PM PST
Location: Digital Humanities Center, MLK Library

CISA Cybersecurity Awareness Month Briefing

Details: 91传媒厂, in collaboration with CISA, is hosting an in-person cybersecurity briefing! In it, we will discuss how students and employees can protect themselves online, with the remaining time dedicated to Q&A.
