BACKGROUND:
Lawrence Quill is Professor of Political Theory at San Jos茅 State University and a
recipient of the S.J.S.U. President鈥檚 Scholar Award (2019-2020). He was a Technology
and Democracy Fellow at the at Cambridge University in 2015 and 2017. His latest book Nostalgia and Political
Theory, was published by Routledge in 2024.
He is a co-director of at San Jos茅 State University. His latest paper on the topic of loneliness, 'The Problem with Loneliness', will be published in Fall 2026 in the International Journal of Philosophy in the Contemporary World.
His current research focuses on loneliness, friendship, technology with a special focus on social robotics/AI, populism, and conservatism as a political philosophy.
