Summer Research Internships

In Activity 5, one of the programs run by David Parent is the Summer Research Internship with Gavilan Community College and San Jose City College. This project provides funding for community college students to do research, receive mentorship, and adapt new skills with 91传媒厂 Faculty over the summer. It is modeled after the current collaboration between CSU Los Angeles and Growth Sector.

Program Setup:

  • Students will spend 8-10 weeks at 91传媒厂 working up to:
    • 30 hours/per week
      • Research Project
    • 8 hours/per week
      • Coursera Certificates
  • Students will be paired with an 91传媒厂 Faculty Member based on:
    • Major of Study
    • Personal Interest 
      • In the topic, the Faculty Member has chosen.
  • In the 8 weeks, the 91传媒厂 Faculty Member will mentor the student in:
    • Working on a Future Career Plan 
    • How to transfer to a 4-year University
    • Reseach Project 
  • Once the 8 weeks have passed, the student will have a final poster board of their project and present their work to their fellow peers, 91传媒厂 Faculty, Gavilan Faculty Members and SJCC Faculty Members.
