Dance Parties
In traditional Khatso culture, young people would often gather for dance parties in the countryside after their daily chores were done. These parties, which have a dedicated verb na53p?31, included group singing and dancing that would often continue until dawn. In this excerpt, Khu?i44 Li24 奎丽 (KL) asks life-long friends Ja31Tsi24f?i44 杨进芬 (YJF) and Kua44Tsh?i33su?i24 官彩顺 (GCS), women born in the 1930s, to describe the parties of their youth. This conversation was recorded on April 8, 2013 in Xingmeng.
