In traditional Khatso culture, young people would often gather for dance parties in the countryside after their daily chores were done. These parties, which have a dedicated verb na⁵³p?³¹, included group singing and dancing that would often continue until dawn. In this excerpt, K^hu?i⁴⁴ Li²⁴ 奎丽 (KL) asks life-long friends Ja³¹Tsi²⁴f?i⁴⁴ 杨进芬 (YJF) and Kua⁴⁴Ts^h?i³³su?i²⁴ 官彩顺 (GCS), women born in the 1930s, to describe the parties of their youth.
