Research Interests
Our lab investigates how human-induced rapid environmental changes influence the physiology, morphology, and behavior of wild birds. Our field-based, interdisciplinary research approach addresses mechanistic, ecological, and conservation questions to advance our understanding of the consequences of anthropogenic changes, like introduced species and climate change. Some ongoing projects in my lab include:
- How the introduction of avian malaria to Hawaii has influenced body size of infected endemic birds
- How disease prevalence influences the health and physiology of common songbirds in northern California
- How avian malaria parasite load varies across individuals at different developmental and life-history stages
